89-Year-Old Woman Lost And Rescued

Douglas County authorities say an 89-year-old woman who wandered away from her residence on Sunday night was rescued and taken to the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a news release it was notified just before 7 p.m. Sunday that a woman with Alzheimer’s had walked away from her home near Birchwood Terrace in Carlos Township. A deputy located the woman laying in the snow in a wooded area at about 8:10 p.m., the sheriff’s office said. She was conscious and alert, but cold, and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
