On July 16, 2022, the Suicide Prevention Lifeline began the transition from the 10-digit dialing code to a new, three-digit number – 988.
The Minnesota Department of Health is working with Minnesota’s four Lifeline centers to expand their infrastructure and implement this change. While this is an exciting time to reimagine how crisis services are provided, the full vision of a transformed crisis care system with 988 included will take time, and they are working together to make it happen.
