Baby Placed in Foster Care – Mom Faces Charges

The baby left in a stolen vehicle in Minneapolis is now back in Alexandria. Police believe the baby was left alone in a vehicle for at least two hours on a cold night. The 6-month-old boy’s temperature had dropped to 93 degrees. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department the infant in now in foster care in Douglas County. His mother, Shaykeya M. Marquez, 31, of Alexandria has been charged in Douglas County with theft of motor vehicle.

The sedan had been reported stolen from a home in Nelson on Dec. 26. Deputies spoke with a woman who said her boyfriend’s niece had taken her car without permission and never returned.
