Cool Cars for a Cool Cause

The Rust Junkies Motor Club will be hosting a car show for a great cause on Sunday, August 4th.

For the second year, the Rust Junkies Motor Club will put on the car show at the Parkers Prairie Fall Festival.

Come out Sunday for the “Rip and Roar” car show and you will be helping to support a very deserving family.

Kylie Jacobson is a 12 year old young lady who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 4. Kylie received an insulin pump 6 months after her diagnosis. Kylie has her blood sugar tested 5 to 6 times per day.

Kylie’s parents are Heidi and Reed Jacobson. Kylie has an older sister, Bailey. Kylie loves outdoor activities like riding her bike, taking walks, playing at the park, riding her 4 wheeler, deer and turkey hunting and going swimming at the pool. She also enjoys volleyball, basketball and softball. Kylie is also very active in her church and 4H. Kylie will be entering the 7th grade in Parkers Prairie this fall.

The Rust Junkies decided last year to help out deserving families by raising money at their car shows. Club member Kris Tvrdik says, “after attending a car show fundraiser in Iowa, the club decided at a meeting that we could do that.” Last year the club raised over $3000 for the Samara Price family.

There is no charge to get into the car show, either as an entrant or a spectator. “The first year we did the car show, all the entrants were asking how much we charge to get a car into the show. They were all reaching for their wallets. So, we decided, if people were willing to pay to be in the show, the money should go to a good cause”, said Tvrdik.

Bring your classic car, restoration, resto-mod or rat rod to the show. The Rust Junkies will take a free will offering, all of which will go to the Jacobson Family. There will be raffle drawings for a number of items that have been donated by area businesses. Plus, there will be a couple of unique items, created by Rust Junkie members Cory Wilke and Reese Aldrich, that will be given away.

The Rust Junkies Motor Club is a Central Minnesota car club with active members in Lowry, Alexandria, Miltona, Parkers Prairie and Almora.
