The Swift County Sheriff’s Office says a structure fire took place at the Swift Country Environmental Services Recycling Center in Benson earlier this week. Officials say the fire took place in the garbage transfer station where approximately 14 tons of garbage had caught on fire. Fire crews from four departments reportedly battled the blaze for nearly three hours.
The recycling center was closed for a brief time and is expected to open fully on Wednesday. The director, Scott Collins wants to thank the Benson Police Department, Swift County Sheriff’s Office and Local Fire Departments for their quick and professional assistance.
