Kids Aim For Fun At Annual Alexandria Event

The sixth annual Youth Outdoor Activity Day is Sunday, August 25th in Alexandria.  Kids who have been to it say it’s their favorite day of the year.  Even more than Christmas!  OK.  Maybe it’s a tie.

If you have kids in your orbit who are 16 years of age or under who want a fantastic introduction to outdoor fun, this is what you’re looking for.

It’s all free including refreshments and a bag full of goodies the kids can bring home.

There over 30 hands-on activities the youth can choose from and even activities for adults.  These events are specifically geared for grown-ups who know nothing about outdoor stuff but want to learn, featuring trap shooting, and a fishing event designed for women by local women anglers.

This public event is made possible through a consortium of participating volunteer organizations, businesses, individuals, and donors. Hosted and organized by the Viking Sportsmen and Douglas County Pheasants Forever.

Lots of volunteers help make the thing go, but more volunteers are always needed.  Go here to find out about opportunities.

Youth Outdoor Activity Day takes place at the Alexandria Shooting Park this Sunday, 10-4, rain or shine.  Registration in advance is strongly recommended to avoid standing in long lines.

Then get set to commune with nature and about 2,000 excited youngsters eager to learn about and enjoy the great outdoors.
