Minnesota State Flower In Bloom Locally

If you happen to find yourself outside of Miltona, on County Road 14 NE, have your passenger keep an eye on the ditches as you drive.  You just might catch a glimpse at one of Minnesota’s greatest treasures – our State Flower – The Showy Lady’s Slipper. The Lady’s Slipper is an orchid native to North America and has been Minnesota’s State Flower since 1902.

If you find Lady’s Slippers, don’t pick them! It is illegal to pick Lady’s Slippers in Minnesota.

The Lady’s Slipper is in bloom from late June through early July. It can be found in less than half of Minnesota’s counties.
